For the next couple of weeks I went to the shelter on
the Sunday and fed her and took her for walks, each
time selfishly hoping that she hadn’t been adopted that
week. After thinking long and hard, I finally decided to
fill out that application form and see if Monika thought
that I would be suitable to adopt Lola myself. I was
happy to answer all of the thorough questions that I
was asked, and was thrilled when Monika said she’d be
happy for me to take Lola home to see how she got on
with my cats. Well the rest is history! They rubbed
noses on that first meeting, and now cuddle and even
wrestle together – true best friends.
That was 4 ½ years ago, and now Lola’s life is filled
with walks, friends, treats, and adventure. We

haven’t missed a day’s walk in all that time, rain or
shine we are out enjoying the fresh air at the park or
the beach and meeting up with Lola’s friends. She has
LOVING IS come on lots of holidays and weekends away and
loves exploring new places with me. My friends are
used to dinner or drinks out having to be somewhere
dog friendly and rarely see me without my bestie by my
EASY BY TOVAH LEVITAS side! Luckily most of them are as dog crazy as me so
wouldn’t expect anything else!
“
I’d been volunteering at DoggieRescue for a few
months, doing the feeding on a Sunday morning,
and walking dogs, when one morning I met the
little monkey who would change my life. ”
I wasn’t looking for a dog of my own, I was perfectly
happy with the company of my cats at home, and
always felt like I bonded more naturally with bigger
dogs, which I knew I wasn’t able to have in my current
situation, so the instant connection I felt with Lola took
me completely by surprise. The very first time I saw her,
I was feeding the large enclosure of small dogs, most
of them making lots of noise and eager to have their
breakfast, and I very nearly missed the quiet little face
waiting patiently behind a kennel….
Now I’m sure that anyone who knows Lola now, will find
this hard to believe, as she’s affectionately known as my
little piglet; but to get her to eat anything I had to hand
feed her, and all that she was interested in doing was
climbing onto my lap and snuggling her soft nose into
my neck. When I looked into her beautiful eyes, I felt
like I already knew her. I went home that day and “ You wanna share my popcorn Mama?
could not stop thinking about her…..
Bridget Jones is on the telly!”
