             Clinical Features
               1.  Primary stage
               •  The incubation period ranges from 10 to 90 days (average 21 days).
               •  The disease starts with a solitary, firm, nontender raised lesion (chancre; Fig. 7.7) on
                 penis, cervix, vagina, arms or as multiple sores (chancres). The chancre heals in a few
                 days (even without therapy).
