A closed weathertight door can seal out spray and periodic minor flow over weather decks, but
may leak during immersion. These outward opening doors are useful at weather deck entrances to
compartments above the main deck.

A weathertight door is designed to be located on the deck of a ship/boat above the waterline,
where they can be subject to the adverse weather conditions experienced offshore. Weathertight
doors are also designed to withstand brief submersion experienced from green seas. This means a
weathertight door can withstand a small head of water (generally no higher than the height of the
door).

FabTek weathertight doors are made from steel, aluminum or stainless steel. Custom designed
and manufactured weathertight doors to provide weathertight protection for environments
requiring marine access solutions. These doors are lighter in weight and easier to operate than
structural doors and may be used in locations where the door is not subject to an internal head
pressure.
