ASSOCIATE OF THE QUARTER: LEUCO

The town will be involved when the company celebrates
the completion of its major Villa Rica plant renovation
and expansion this fall.
“We added about 8,000 square feet of administrative
offices to our existing facility,” Shaffer says. “Then we had
an engineering team from LEUCO Headquarters in Germany
assist us by mapping out a new lean manufacturing layout. Our
offices had crept into the manufacturing space, and while we
were productive — we had been growing astronomically – we
knew we could be more efficient. They opened everything up,
demolished all the offices, moved every machine, and we now
have a clear, lean manufacturing space.”
The expansion includes a guest welcome center, as well as
an employee lounge designed to be a more inviting and up-
to-date space for LEUCO Villa Rica employees. It includes
computer stations, TVs, and an outdoor pavilion. Jens
Schulz, President of LEUCO’s North American operations, is
“wonderful at taking care of our employees and creating a
great culture,” she says.
