SAVING CATS LIVES
Never believe that a few caring people
cannot change the fate of many animals…
Because it can and has happened!
Hello Readers,
It is so inspiring to see Blacktown Animal Holding Facility
working together with rescue groups to save as many
abandoned animals as they can but it’s been particularly
bad these last few weeks. Too many cats and kittens. Not
enough homes. Not enough foster carers. The list for
euthanasia when it came through was a long one ranging
from a very scared pair of surrendered cats to young
adults and even small kittens. 60 cats in the pound were
on death row, with 25 due for euthanasia on Monday.
To save as many as possible and with the pound’s full
support an urgent plea was put out by RescueCatProject

and with only until Monday at 4.30pm to do it. All through
that terrible weekend cat lovers pledged donations to help
with the cost of adopting the desperate cats.
Slowly one, two, three, then five were safe. Messages of
support came from far and wide but there were just too
many, too, too many. It seemed that in the end there
would be no happy endings for most of the abandoned
pets. It was hard not to feel ashamed for the irresponsible
owners who had dumped or surrendered their unwanted
pets to their unknown fate. Or had simply not desexed
their cat and got rid of the consequences.
These cats and kittens had become well known to our Michelle from DoggieRescue picking up the
