Hello first of all, Tanya. I am so grateful that you accepted
this interview with us. Let’s start our interview if you wish.
How did you start playing volleyball, how you decided to
become a professional volleyball player. What sports were
you interested in before you started volleyball?
Hello! Thank you for inviting me for an
interview! So, let’s begin .
I have always been an active child, before
volleyball I played basketball at school after
lessons, moreover, I was into running and
skiing. I took part in various competitions! I
took up volleyball when I was 11 years old,
it happened by chance, a coach on the street
came up to me when we were walking
with my mother and invited me to practice,
I refused! After that at the competition in
athletics for my high school, the volleyball
coach came up to me again and invited me
to join them, I told my mom about it and
she persuaded me to try! Thanks to her
reviews and wonderful stories about this
sport I got to my first training session! Af-
ter a while I just fell in love, all my dreams
and thoughts were only about volleyball,
this is an amazing feeling! You are asking
me about how I became a professional
player, right? This story looks like a miracle
. Unfortunately, in my city Tula, where I
started playing volleyball, the coaches did
not focus on me, they kept saying that I had
no talent and I needed to give up that idea,
but I continued to dream! When I turned
15, they started to form the youth team of
Russia with players of my year of birth and,
no wonder, no one invited me there but a
miracle happened, the coach from my team
went to Moscow to pick up two girls from
my team who got into the youth team and
took me with him saying: “Watch how girls
of your age can play volleyball!” We arrived
and there was the last training session, the
coach of the youth team Irina Bespalova
asked me to practice with them and kept
me there . Can you imagine that ?! She
invited me to further training camps, and
then she told my parents: “This girl has a
great future, this is a national team player!”
This is how my professional career began,
this woman was sent to me by God, she
changed my life and gave me a chance!
