AKSHAY KUMAR
IS KEEN ON MAKING
A FILM ON A STRONG
FEMALE CHARACTER
t is not just the ladies in Bollwyood who are keen
on doing strong female characters; superstars
Ilike Akshay Kumar is also interested in making
movies revolving around powerful woman-centric
roles. In an interview with a daily, the actor talked
about the importance of ‘heroines’ in cinema and
how he has been planning on making a film on a
strong female character but nothing’s materialised
yet.
Akshay revealed that he was in talks with his co-
star Nimrat Kaur from the hit movie ‘Airlift’ but
nothing worked out. He went on to add that it’s
high time the film industry started giving respect
to their actresses as he feels that just like a hero,
even heroines play crucial role in films.
The National Award winner shared that as an
actor and producer, he receives tons of scripts
every day, some of them are good and some are
not. However, he really liked a script on dowry
that had come his way but a script needs to have
everything right and that is yet to happen. The
superstar went on to add that looking for a good
script is like fishing where you cast your net and
wait; outstanding work comes once in a while.
But, the ‘PadMan’ actor confirmed that he has
been discussing with his team about making a
film where a woman is at the heart of it.
Interestingly, in an attempt to empower women,
the actor has a martial arts school where he
encourages girls and young women to take up
self-defense classes.
