GARAGE LONG-TERM TEST BIKES
2022 YAMAHA TÉNÉRÉ 700 WORLD RAID
What we’ve
learned after
1058 miles
How does Yamaha’s new long-range
adventurer stack up in the real world?
AFTER THREE YEARS of
sales success and road-test
plaudits, Yamaha has
launched a new, upgraded
Ténéré. With upgraded
running gear and larger, long-distance THE FACTS
fuel tanks, it’s designed to be better
off-road but, at the same time, be able £11,800
to clock up to a claimed 300 miles in a
single filling. 72bhp 220kg
Obviously, with a higher level of MILES THIS MONTH
goodies comes 16kg of extra weight and
it also comes at a higher price as well. 1058
The £11,800 of the top-spec Ténéré is
the same territory as BMW’s F850 GS MPG THIS MONTH
Adventure and KTM’s 890 Adventure 50.1
range. But is it worth the money? This is
what we’ve found out so far…
It’s a decent
distance bike
1 e already knew how good
W
the stock T7 was as a road bike
but, despite an off-road bias, the
World Raid takes that to another
level on tarmac. There is a much
better ride and wind protection
and 50% more range. It is more
supple over bumps and better
over distance, thanks to a 15mm
taller screen which works well
with both full-face and peaky lids
and those wider tanks, which
take the blast and wet off your
knees in bad weather. The seat’s
OK, too. Smashing out a 200-mile
journey is easy. No back-ache,
no bum-ache, no cramp.
