          2022 LEADERSHIP EXPLORATION AND


          DEVELOPMENT (LEAD) INITIATIVE



          the ACA is proud to announce its 2022 Leader-
          ship Exploration and Development (LEAD) Initia-
          tive. This program is designed to train, develop and
          mentor people of color as leaders, and to help them
          to transform their local communities and provide
          representation in paddlesports. These goals will be
          achieved through four-day immersive courses, ongoing
          mentorship and purposeful partnerships with both
          national organizations as well as grassroots nonprofits,
          including Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI Co-Op),
          Hudson River Riders, Yonkers Paddling and Rowing

            These programs will begin in the summer of 2022,
          and will be held in Los Angeles, California, Sloatsburg,
          New York, Des Moines, Iowa, and Washington, D.C.

          ACA’S FIRST


          ONLINE PADDLING
          SAFETY COURSE

          the aca safety, Education and Instruction Depart-
          ment is proud to announce ACA’s first online pad-
          dling safety course. Developed in partnership with
          the U.S. Coast Guard, this free course covers many
          critical paddling topics such as equipment selection,
          securing a boat to your car, planning a successful
