                                  organisation’s objectives.  With over 30 years of community development
                                  experience, he joined the organisation in October 2006 to build its capacity.

                                  He led the successful £7 million fundraising campaign that launched
                                  BCA into its new home in Brixton. Since its re-launch in 2014 as a state-
                                  of-the-art national Black Heritage centre and under his stewardship, the
                                  BCA has become a vital part of the intellectual, historical and community
                                  life of this country. Paul was the capacity-building Third Sector Manager
                                  for Lambeth Council and before that, he was the Brixton Town Centre
                                  Manager, responsible for engaging local people, empowering communities,

                                  influencing council policies, leading and managing public consultation
                                  and promoting democratic community led regeneration. Paul also has a
                                  wealth of experience in youth and community work. In his spare time, he is
                                  passionate about supporting young people in their transition to adulthood.
                                  He is a founding member of New Initiatives Youth & Community Association
                                  and Founder of the ORIGIN Rites of Passage Programme.

                                  Norman Washington “Junior” Giscombe receives a Lifetime Achievement

                                  Award after a stellar career in the music industry.  Junior was born in
                                  Wandsworth, South London, and was a backing vocalist with Linx between
                                  1980 and 1982. When turning towards a solo career, he was first billed
                                  simply as Junior and he scored a   #7 hit in the UK Singles Chart in 1982,
                                  with “Mama Used to Say”. His follow-up single, “Too Late” also made the Top
                                  20 in the UK. “Mama Used to Say” was also a Top 40 Pop hit and Top 5 R&B
                                  in the US, earning him a “Best Newcomer” award from Billboard magazine.

                                  Junior also became involved with the formation of Red Wedge in 1986 with
                                  Billy Bragg, Jimmy Somerville and Paul Weller, and had been a part of The
                                  Council Collective with The Style Council, Jimmy Ruffin and others for the
                                  1984 fundraising single, “Soul Deep”.
