              he PDS Research Committee
              held a clinical trials workshop
Tlast July 15, 2019 at Wack-
Wack Golf and Country Club. Dr. Mara
         Padilla Evangelista-Huber, the Course
Director and sole speaker for this event,
         delivered comprehensive lectures that
aimed to equip the attendees with the
armamentarium to embark on a clinical
trial. Clinical trials are powerful tools in
         evidence-based medicine, but like many
tools, we must know how to use them.
Dr. Huber taught the attendees how From L-R: Drs. Sim Veluz, Jr, Susannah O. Salvador, Eugenio Pipo III, Czarina Pineda-Chavez,
to use this powerful tool by discussing Angela Lavadia, Camille Berenguer-Angeles, Mara Padilla Evangelista-Huber,
how to design, conduct, analyze and Blossom T. Chan, Arnold Yu, Stephanie Katalbas
present results of a clinical trial. It
was a joy to listen to Dr. Huber, as she
made it very easy for the attendees to
         understand her lectures. She discussed
the elements of a valid clinical trial,
shared best practices for reporting its
different sections – from writing the
         Introduction to the Conclusion, and
gave a background on basic statistics
that every PDS resident must be familiar
with. All the important learnings and
         key concepts were reinforced through
         exercises. The PDS Research Committee
proudly gave all the attendees a copy of
the first PDS Research Handbook, which
contained all the topics discussed during
the workshop. One copy was also given From L-R: The PDS Research Committee published the first PDS Research Handbook, authored
to each PDS training institution. by Dr. Mara Evangelista-Huber, with Drs. Camille Berenguer-Angeles, Czarina Pineda-Chavez,
Hester Gail Lim-Beuser, and Simeon Veluz, Jr. as Editors
