What is RFID?

Radio Frequency Identification uses electromagnetic fields to communicate with RFID readers. These radio waves allow the
readers to automatically identify tags e.g. chips on your credit card and read the electronically stored information. In a modern age
with ‘Tap and Go’ facilities, becoming a victim of RFID theft is a real possibility, as someone could scan your RFID card through
your pocket or wallet without your knowledge. Fortunately, radio waves are relatively easy to interrupt – RFID blocking wallets
and bags are similar to a Faraday cage - designed to block electromagnetic fields and subsequently prevent any communication
between the tags and readers.
