Read the diary below carefully and answer the questions that follow.
Dear diary,
It was the first day of school today. I was elected as the class monitor. That was so
surprising! I thought Emil would be the one since he was more favourable. Regardless, he
is now my assistant. Should I start bossing him around?
My first assigned task was to ensure everyone was quiet during English period. Miss
Azura was absent and there was no relief teacher. We were told that she was under
the weather. I hope she feels better soon. Anyway, I was glad that my classmates
cooperated by keeping themselves quiet. Even during Mr. Logesh’s Science class, no one
made any sound when he went out to the staff room.
My class teacher, Mr. Muzakkir told me that I will be given a new nametag and a vest
for being the monitor. In fact, all other class monitors will receive the same. I wonder if I’d
look good in those. Emil will also get a new nametag, but not a vest. Only class monitors
will wear vests. Now I’m starting to feel more special.
Besides my appointment as the monitor, everything else was mundane. Oh, did I also
mention I got Cikgu Zafirah as our Math teacher? I was over the moon! She is one of my
most favourite teachers. I can’t wait to start our Math lesson soon. Besides that, I am also
thankful that there’s no homework on the first day of school. Our teachers are all such a
sport. But let’s see how tomorrow goes.
