5. An investigation was conducted to determine the factors of competition among plants. The
report for the investigation was prepared as follows. LS 4.2.1 PL 3 HOTS Analysing HOTS Evaluating

(A) Materials and apparatus: 20 chilli seeds, 2 small pots, farm soil and water.
(B) Steps:
(i) Put the farm soil into the small pots.
(ii) Sow 15 chilli seeds into vase A.
(iii) Sow 5 chilli seeds into vase B.
(iv) Water the two vases every day.
(v) Make and record observations and record them.
(C) Observation:

Menyiasat hubungan antara faktor persaingan dengan keadaan anak benih cili.

(b) What can you observe from the information obtained?

Anak pokok dalam pasu B lebih tinggi dan mempunyai lebih banyak daun berbanding
pasu A.

(c) Give your inference for your answer in 5(b).
Anak pokok cili dalam pasu B tidak perlu bersaing untuk mendapatkan keperluan

asas.

(d) What are the factors of competition that exist in pot A?

Ruang, air, cahaya matahari dan nutrien.
