2 Articles
(a) ‘A’ and ‘an’ are articles. ‘A’ and ‘an’ are used with singular nouns to mean
one.
(b) Article ‘a’ is used before a word that starts with a consonant sound. Consonants
are the letters of the alphabet other than a, e, i, o, u.
Examples:
a school
a spoon

(c) Article ‘an’ is used before a word that starts with a vowel sound. Vowels are
a, e, i, o, u.
Examples:
an ankle an orange an eye
an elephant an ant an owl
