3 Pronouns

(a) Personal Pronouns : A personal pronoun is used to replace the name of a

person, a thing, an animal or a place.
I, We, You, He, She, It, They
Examples:
• I love to go to school.

• She is very beautiful.

(b) Demonstrative Pronouns :
This and That are used for singular nouns.
These and Those are used for plural nouns.
Examples:
• This is my pencil. That is your pencil.
• These are my dogs. Those are Raju’s dogs.

(c) Possessive Pronouns : A possessive pronoun is used to show possession.
It comes after a noun.
Mine, yours, his, hers, ours and theirs are possessive pronouns.

Examples:
• This water bottle is mine.
• The big house is ours.

(d) Possessive Adjectives : A possessive adjective is used to show possession.
It comes before a noun.

My, your, his, her, its, our and their are possessive adjectives.
Examples:
• My nose is big.
• Your shirt is very dirty.
