• ISO 14644-1 defines cleanliness level by particle size and concentration
• Formerly defined by Federal Standard 209
• Provision is made for ultrafine-particle and macro-particle concentration
limits
• Cleanliness level is defined by the size of particle that is being measured
- The cleanroom owner determines the critical particle size that is to be
measured
