essage from the houses – Imperial, Newton and Victoria
I would like to start by saying what an interesting
and enriching experience it has been to be the House
Coordinator for Grammar School this year. It has been a
real honour to have worked alongside so many driven,
mature and sociable pupils in planning, setting up and
running a range of different house activities.
A huge thank you to the House Captains, Vice House
Captains, House Representatives and Mr Lowe and his
team. The House team have been crucial in ensuring
that the House Activities have been a success this year.
Especially in regards to providing a range of activities
aimed at meeting the interests of as many pupils in the
student body as possible.
This year has witnessed a return of many whole school
favourites such as inter-house Football, inter-house
Volleyball and inter-house Basketball. In addition, as
means of keeping house activities light hearted, the House
team also provided activities such as inter-house tug of
war and inter-house dodge ball. It was a real joy to see so
many KS3 pupils working alongside KS4 and KS5 pupils
in helping their Houses to gain the much coveted House
points.
Furthermore, this year witnessed a concerted effort in
providing a balance between sporting and academic based
House activities. These included an inter-house spelling
bee, inter-house chess, inter-house kahoot challenge, inter-
house art competition, inter-house Uno and an inter-house
creative writing competition.
The end of the academic year saw the House cup
presentation to the winning house in Grammar School.
Victoria came first, Imperial came second and Newton
came third. Victoria was most deserving of their victory.
This was achieved through a combination of excellent
leadership from the House leadership team, but also
from the commitment of House members to try their and
achieve the best in the various House activities.
