         Recommended Grade A/A* at IGCSE Physics. Minimum of Grade B at IGCSE Physics and Math-
         ematics.

        AS Level
        The topics are:
        Section I: General Physics
        This section leads on from the IGCSE and covers Physical Quantities, SI Units and Measurement Tech-
        niques. Errors and Uncertainties and Calculations involving Errors.

        Section II: Newtonian Mechanics
        Kinematics, Dynamics, Forces and Work, Energy and Power.

        Section III: Matter
        Deformation of Solids.

        Section IV:  Oscillations and Waves
        Progressive waves Transverse and longitudinal waves.  Determination of speed, frequency and wave-
        length. Stationary waves. Interference of water waves, light waves, microwaves. Youngs Double slit experi-
        ment and diffraction grating. Electromagnetic spectrum and various topics in Superposition of Waves.

        Section V: Electricity and Magnetism
        Electric Fields, Current of Electricity and D.C. Circuits. Potential divider, Kirchoff’s Laws, Internal Resist-
        ance.


        Section VI: Modern Physics
        Nuclear Physics, the nucleus, Isotopes and Nuclear processes.


        A2 level
        Section I:   Physical Quantities and Units and Measurement Techniques
        This short section covers advanced error calculation using logarithms and exponential functions and meas-
        urement techniques.

        Section II: Newtonian Mechanics
        Motion in a Circle and Gravitational Fields.

        Section III: Matter
        Ideal Gases, Temperature, Thermal Properties of Materials.

        Section IV: Oscillations and Waves
        Oscillations. Simple Harmonic Motion.


        Section V: Electricity and Magnetism
        Electric Fields, Magnetic Fields, Electromagnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents.
