THE SOUTHERN EXTENSION
Currently, the Southside Interim Trail is open as an unpaved, interim trail, providing
connectivity between the paved Eastside and Westside Trails. Plans to build out the
Southside Trail are moving forward, with the first phase of construction efforts focused on
the portion extending from the southern end of the Westside Trail eastward toward the
Connector.
WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW
The Southwest Connector Spur Trail is part of a larger trail network that connects
neighborhoods in southwest Atlanta to the Westside Trail. When completed, this network
will be 4.5 miles. It is part of the Atlanta BeltLine’s 33-mile trail network.
THE WESTSIDE TRAIL
EXTENSION IS NOT
YET OPEN. In August
2018, the City of Atlanta
and Atlanta BeltLine,
Inc. purchased 1.8
miles of former railroad
corridor on the westside
informally known as “the
Kudzu Line.” This stretch
will extend the existing
Westside Trail and
connect to the Westside
Connector, currently
in development by the
PATH Foundation.
