The diagram below shows the stages of a solar eclipse observed from the
Earth. During the stages, there are two types of eclipse of the Sun. They are
total eclipse of the Sun and partial eclipse of the Sun.

When a total solar eclipse of the Sun occurs, the
surroundings will be as dark as night. The Sun
CLICK appears as a dark circle surrounded by a bright ring
called a corona.
A total eclipse of the
Sun can be seen
from the area of the
Moon’s shadow that is # SAFETY
completely dark. Never look directly at
the Sun without using a
special filter as this can
damage your eyes.
A partial eclipse of
the Sun can be seen
from the area of the
Moon’s shadow that
is partially dark.
