What are Constellations?






                                                            Try observing the sky at night. Stars are
                                                            clearly visible on a clear, dark night and
                                                            when the Moon is not visible. There are
                                                            millions of stars in the universe, but we can
                                                            only see a part of them.














                                                            When a certain group of stars are connected
                                                            using a line, a pattern such as shown below
                                                            will be formed.

                                         There are many constellations in the sky but the International
                                         Astronomical Union (IAU) has officially identified 88
                                         constellations in the sky at night.
