The second of five consecutive holes with
out-of-bounds on the right, long hitters
can target the left side of the fairway and
let loose. When the pin is on the right

side, second shots require accuracy,
maybe a soft fade. Former Exmoor
member Chick Evans, winner of the 1916
U.S. Open, called this “the toughest hole
on the course, with its narrow entrance
and traps on both sides.”
