Both sentences in the pair mean the same but they are different in
structure.
The sentence in ‘i’ of each pair is the Direct Speech and the sentence
in ‘ii’ of each pair is the ‘Indirect Speech.’
3.2. Take help from the teacher. Write ‘D’ for direct speech and ‘I’ for
indirect.
a. I said to my father, “I am leaving for school.”
b. Mr. Bamjan said, “You can’t do this to me.”
c. Rati told Rob that Nikki was asking about him.
d. Carol told Cathy that she needed a job.
e. The Batman told the Superman that he was stronger than him.
f. Salman said, “My name is Pawan and I am from Delhi.”
3.2. Take help from the teacher. Change the following sentences into
indirect speech.
a. Began said to Regan, “I can do it in an hour.”
b. The boy said to his mother, “I want to go with you.”
c. Pranali said to Pranay, “You will be sorry for it.”
d. Sanu said to me, “I forgot to bring your notebook.”
e. Banni said to her brother, “The boy had teased me at school.”
f. The teacher said to the principal, “The kids are doing their
project work.”
g. Ramdev said, “It’s not good to have yoghurt in the evening.”
h. Mr. Gurung said to his daughter, “I have sent you a laptop.”
3.4. Take help from the teacher. Change the following sentences into
direct speech.
a. Manu told his pa that he missed him.
b. Jange said that he could be happy with that.
