The guideline development committee would like to express its heartfelt appreciation
and gratitude to Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Hj. Mohd Ismail Merican, the Director-General
of Health Malaysia for his exemplary leadership, valuable guidance and solid
commitment to this very vital patient safety issue.

The committee also wishes to thank Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham bin Abdullah, the
Deputy Director-General of Health (Medical) for his strong commitment and support
for the infection control programme. The committee also acknowledges the key
role played by the Director of Medical Development, Dato’ Dr. Azmi bin Shapie and
Dr. Hjh. Kalsom Maskon, the Deputy Director of the Quality in Medical Care Section,
Medical Development Division, for their tireless efforts to help ensure that this guideline
is developed, for the benefit of our patients. We would also like to thank Dr. Christopher
Lee Kwong Choong for his valuable input and feedback to this noble effort. Appreciation
