PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF PNEUMONIA
• The lung defence mechanism loses its effectiveness and allows the
entry of the organism into the lower respiratory tract which in turn
will cause inflammation to arise.
• Organisms can also enter the pulmonary system through the
bloodstream, organisms in the bloodstream are too large to pass
through the capillary network and stagnate in the lungs causing
the cause of infection.
