Information Municipal

Budget Index 2020

At the end of this year of 2020, the Mexican Institute for
Competitiveness A.C. (IMCO) will submit the 2020 Index of
Municipal Budget Information (IIPM). This index measures
the quality of budget information of municipalities of
Mexico. Its purpose is to eliminate lack of transparency
conditions, to verify the compliance of the government
accounting and promote a series of good accounting
practices.

ICCE of Nuevo Laredo was in charge of analyzing the
assessment criteria of the 2020 IIPM, showing therefore,
the result of our municipality of 88% of compliance in
regards to the 85 criteria composed by the index.

Financial Stability

Fitch Ratings is a worldwide leader company which classifies and researches credits with presence in more than 30 countries.
Since 2008, this credit rating company has carried out a study being updated every year, in which it is analyzed the credit
level of municipal and regional governments of Mexico. The study uses the new “Rating Methodology of Local, Regional
and International Governments”.
Being one of the municipalities assessed with this methodology, Nuevo Laredo shows a significant improvement from
2008 thru 2020. Currently, the city has “AA(mex)” rating, which means that, in regards to credit, our municipality has a
positive capacity of debt stability ensuring trust and steadiness.
With the “AA(mex)” rating, Nuevo Laredo, Tamps., Mx., is regarded as a highly competitive city which endorses progress
and investment.
