TECOLOTES
of “Los Dos Laredos”
Tecolotes of Nuevo Laredo is one of the longest established
teams in the Mexican league of Baseball, the border team
initiated its history during the summer season of 1940,
under the name of “La Junta de Nuevo Laredo”, calling
themselves this way due to the Federal Board of Material
Improvements (Government department in charge of
municipal public works), having the park the same name
where their first games took place.
In 1949 the team changed its name to Tecolotes de Nuevo
Laredo, while in 1985 it became the first team to play
in two countries, Mexico and United States, becoming
therefore in “Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos” (Owls of the
Two Laredos).
Currently, Tecolotes play at the “La Junta” Park of Nuevo
Laredo and the Uni-Trade stadium of Laredo, Texas.
