Runic Stones Of

Magical Potential

It appears that some spellcasters in the Shatterspire prefer calculated

magic, using recipes and equations to perform certain effects. The

components themselves are small stones, inscribed with different

symbols, holding different potentials. We first came across this

phenomenon with the Smith, though I haven’t paid much attention to it

back then. The second time was horrid. Some filthy mouth-breathing

trash cast Counterspell against me by throwing a bunch of these into

the air, making my incredible bolt of light disappear as if it never

existed. We have since dispatched said filth, and I nabbed some of the

stones he still had:

Seven stones inscribed with the symbol of a wave, signifying water.

Ten stones with the engraving of a boulder, probably consisting of

earth.

Two stones, seemingly rarer and stronger than the other two types,

bearing psychic energy.

The stones are meant to be used in combinations to cast spells. Right

now I know of one useful combination:

3 Earth + 1 Water + 1 Mind = Shield
