As a student athlete, Joe was a member of the baseball team and a
fan of all Crusader sports. As a parent, Joe was a committed
member of the Chain Gang for over 10 years and worked with the
Waukesha School District to make fields with lights available during
playoff football practices.
He has been honored with the 1988 CMH Loyalty Award and the
2006 Alumni of the Year Award for significant contributions to the
Crusader Auction, class reunions, various committees and for
continual promotion of CMH to prospective families in Waukesha
County. Joe continues to serve on the Athletic Hall of Fame
Committee and has earned the title of “official CMH historian.”
Joe retired from the Waukesha School District in 1998 after serving
as an educator and principal for 39 years.
As an alumni parent and current grandparent, Joe’s six-decade
support of CMH remains unwavering. Joe and his wife, Louise
(Kissinger) Vitale ’56 are parents of CMH alumni Joseph ’81, Robert
’83 and Thomas ’85.
