3.1.2 Free Zone Act and Regulations in export and

import control

 FREE ZONES ACT 1990. An Act to provide for the
establishment of free zones in Malaysia for

promoting the economic life of the country and for

related purposes.

 Free Commercial Zones are permitted to carry on trade

activities, while Free Industrial Zones are permitted to

carry on manufacturing activities.

 Functions of the Free Zone Authority are as follow;

i. Regulating the Free Zone Act and Regulations

ii. Trade facilitator
iii. Advising port users on procedures in the free zones

iv. Providing statistical reports to the interested parties
