NOTE: Effective February 2013: Students applying for
Specialized Firearms our Specialized Instructor Training courses no longer
have to submit a CPR card in order to enroll or attend.
Instructor Prequalifi cation Students will have to submit the CPR card to the Criminal
Justice Education and Training Standards Division once
they complete our Specialized course and apply for
certifi cation.
Who Should Attend
Successful completion of this course is required for all Once a student successfully completes an instructor

Course Goal Length of Course
To ensure that instructors attending Specialized Firearms One day (0 hours)
Instructor Training are prequalifi ed.
Course Requirements
The student will be required to fi re the handgun BLET
qualifi cation course, day and night, and attempt to qualify
with at least a score of 92% with their duty handgun, two
out of three attempts.
Special Concerns
Students should bring comfortable and practical clothing
for outside training and bring rain protection. The student
should also bring their duty handgun with duty holster
and ancillary equipment and 300 rounds of duty/ballistic
equivalent pistol ammunition. Also, bring eye and ear
protection and a billed cap. Nylon holsters (unless
uniform duty holsters) and tactical holsters are
unacceptable. Individuals employed by an agency
with a Uniform Patrol Division MUST have a uniform
belt and holster (i.e., Sam Brown belt, security holster,
etc.) regardless of their current duty assignment. Duty
weapons MUST be the department-issued weapon. NO
PERSONAL WEAPONS.
