UNIT: CLASSIFICATION OF ELEMENTS
Element : An element is the pure form of substance that
can’t be broken into simpler form. Till the date 118 elements have
been discovered out of which 92 are natural and 26 are artificial.
On the basis of their physical and chemical properties elements are
classified as metals, non-metals and metalloids.
Atom: An atom is the smallest particle an element that may or
may not exist freely and take part in a chemical reaction. An atom is
made up of electron, proton and neutron.
