                                    Postman : A forgotten friend

hen was the last ti me we have writt en a lett er
Wto our beloved? Has the habit of wielding
a pen to render an account of the aff airs of your
kingdom to a faraway prince/princess died along
with the kings who ruled us?
This age-old habit is considered old fashioned
and put away by the new generati on. The thrill
of receiving a lett er from an old friend cannot be
explained by any combinati on of lett ers. The feeling
when the postman announces that a lett er has
come in your name boggles the mind. Your minds
becomes a pot brimming with imaginati on and
curiosity as to whose lett er it might be and what its
contents are. Some lett ers stay in our heart as long
             as it beats.
Some receive a galaxy of lett ers, while on the
other hand some are even ignorant of the existence
of a postman. The former ones have lett ers which
form heaps. We are left to wonder whether they
write lett ers for themselves. They have lett ers
from possibly everyone we could imagine- parents,
siblings, friends, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, etc, Someti mes when my grey matt er is put on
etc. Some even have lett ers from their grandparents work, I ponder, whether the virtual friends are really
who are no longer with them. friends. We have gone all the way around to reach
Writi ng a reply is an interesti ng experience. the same stage we have started, and understand
According to Shakespeare ‘’ a barber’s chair fi ts all that real happiness comes when someone really
butt ocks’’ but even if Shakespeare has to write a likes you rather than someone hitti ng a like for
reply, a standard one is not fi t for all. Each one has you. For this lett er has become a powerful medium
his own expectati ons of how a reply should be. The of expression. Lett er writi ng is a skill and nobody
reply to be sent is to be writt en with the receiver in achieves the ulti mate profi ciency. Everybody
mind. A lett er has to be tailored well to suit his/her conti nues to learn and discover that there is always
expectati ons. a bett er way to express themselves.
If two persons are writi ng lett ers for the same Writi ng lett ers should be considered as a hobby

it has some liveliness in it which the writer could creati ve thinking and also contribute in honing
incorporate in his lett er, because of some incidents your writi ng skills. It also enables you to develop
and situati ons he has met with in his life. a relati onship with the postman whom we have
The same rule follows while reading lett er too. all forgott en. I hope you will all receive and send

to us on our birthday, we tend to read one of them
again and again. This is because the writer could - Cadet Neoson Parakkotti l
