output of our planning process is a true playbook or guidebook that presents the
company’s strategy and what it is going to do to realize its long-term goals.
The bottom line is that “Business Concept, Strategic Mission, and Core Strategy”
trump “Mission, Vision, and Values.” The former are clearly defined, and together
comprise an integrated “business foundation” for the development of a strategic
plan. The latter, while well-known and frequently cited, are just words without
clearly defined and consistent meanings, and which often merely constitute boiler
plate in a strategic plan.
