 Is motivated to participate in the achievement of organization’s goals.
       Experiences a sense of vicarious pleasure from the success of the

           enterprise and/or displeasure from its difficulties and failures.
       Views an attack on the organization as an attack on him or herself.

  Operationally defined, a “fully disengaged engaged employee” can be
  characterized as one that:

       Fully does not identify with the organization,
       Is not motivated to protect the organization
       Is not motivated to participate in the achievement of organization’s

           goals.
       Does not Experience a sense of vicarious pleasure from the success

           of the enterprise and/or displeasure from its difficulties and failures.
       Is indifferent to an attack on the organization.

Accordingly, we can see that that the underlying variables comprising employee
engagement are:

     Organizational Identification
     Motivation to perform
     Commitment to the enterprise and its goals
     Protection of the Enterprise.
As we shall see below, it is important to identify the components of employee
engagement in order to facilitate its measurement.
