2019 ENDURANCE RULES PREAMBLE

The present Rules for Endurance Events are the 9 edition, effective 1 January 2017. As
from the aforementioned date, all other texts covering the same matter (other editions
and all other official documents) issued previously are superseded.

Although this Endurance Rules set out the detailed Rules of the FEI governing International
Endurance Rides, it must be read in conjunction with the FEI Statutes, the FEI General
Regulations and the FEI Veterinary Regulations.

Every eventuality cannot be provided for in these Rules. As a result, this edition of the
Rules is designed for flexibility to adapt to a developing discipline by referring in
appropriate circumstances to Annex/Notes for Guidance information for suggestions and
recommendations on how to safely manage this discipline and its events. Additionally, in
any unforeseen or exceptional circumstances, it is the duty of the Ground Jury and the
Veterinarians to make a decision in a sporting spirit and approaching as nearly as possible
to the intention of these Rules and of the General Regulations of the FEI.

For the sake of brevity these regulations use the masculine form; this is to be interpreted
to include both genders. Terms with a capitalized first letter are defined in the Glossary of
the Endurance Rules, in the General Regulations, in the Statutes or in other Rules of the
FEI.
