        f  Nigerian economist Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been chosen as the next Director-General of the World
           Trade Organization (WTO). She would be the first woman as well as the first African nation to lead the
           organization. Okonjo-Iweala, the former finance minister of Nigeria, will succeed Roberto Azevedo, who
           stepped down in August 2020.

        f   The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres re-appointed Michael Bloomberg as his Special
           Envoy on Climate Ambition and Solutions. Bloomberg is the founder and owner of Bloomberg LP, the
           parent company of Bloomberg News. He was previously appointed as the U.N. special envoy for climate
           action between March 2018 and November 2019.

        f  The International Solar Alliance (ISA) has announced Dr Ajay Mathur as its new DirectorGeneral following
           his election at the first special assembly of ISA members. Dr Mathur replaces Mr Upendra Tripathy, who
           has served as DirectorGeneral since the ISA was founded in 2015.

        f   The UN Capital Development Fund has appointed Indian-origin investment and development banker
           Preeti Sinha as its Executive Secretary, the highest leadership rank in the institution. She succeeds Judith
           Karl.  He  will  work  with  a  focus  on  providing  micro-finance  assistance  to  women,  youth,  small  and
           medium-sized enterprises in under-served communities.

        f  Former Union Minister Vijay Sampla has assumed the charge of Chairman National Commission for
           Scheduled  Castes  (NCSC).  He  has  been  the  former  Union  Minister  of  State  for  Social  Justice  &
           Empowerment from 2014 to 2019. NCSC is an Indian constitutional body under the Ministry of Social
           Justice and Empowerment, that works for the socio-economic development of the scheduled castes and
           to prevent atrocities against them.

        f  Dushyant Chautala has been re-elected as the President of Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) for a
           period of four years. He was elected unanimously during the 84th annual meeting of the TTFI, on
           February 24, 2021

        f  The re-appointment of Pramod Chandra Mody as Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) as
           been extended for a further period of three months. He is a 1982-batch Indian Revenue Service officer,
           was appointed as the CBDT chief in February 2019.

        f  Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh took over as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C) of
           Eastern Naval Command (ENC). He replaces Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain. Atul Kumar Jain has been
           transferred to New Delhi to assume charge as the Vice Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman
           Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC).

        f  The former head of the News Services Division of All India Radio, Jaideep Bhatnagar, took over as
           Principal Director General of the Press Information Bureau. Prior to his current charge as head of the
           organisation, Bhatnagar has worked in PIB for six years in different capacities. He will take over from
           Kuldeep Singh Dhatwalia, who superannuated on February 28, 2021.

       f   Matam Venkata Rao has taken charge as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of
           Central  Bank  Of  India.  Rao  till  now  held  the  position  of  Executive  Director  at  Canara  Bank.  His
           appointment is for a period of 3 years with effect from the date of assumption of office on or after March 1,
           2021, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

       f  IPS officer Kuldiep Singh has given an additional charge of CRPF director general (DG) after incumbent
           chief A P Maheshwari retires. Kuldiep Singh is working as the special DG of its central zone, will hold the
           additional charge of the CRPF head till “the appointment and joining of the successor or until further
           orders.
