                                         Spring Botanical Garden Series
                         Register for the classes below by calling 681-3502 or emailing bstreitmatter@peoriaparks.org.

           From trees and wildflowers to edible gardens and garden design, we will look at a variety of garden topics to inspire and better
           prepare you for the upcoming season. With each topic we will discuss characteristics and concepts applicable to your own
           garden - big or small. Select classes of interest or take the entire series and enjoy a discounted price. Register by calling

              •  Seven classes held over just two Saturdays on April 15 and 22
              •  All classes in this series are held in the Garden classrooms by the entrance.
              •  Classes are for ages 13+. There is a minimum/maximum of 5/20 participants for each class unless otherwise noted.
              •  Class fees are below, but you can save money by registering for all 7 classes! $60/members, $72/non-members
              •  Are you a Master Gardener? These are perfect classes for your education. Register for all 7 classes for only $40!

             The Incredible Edible Garden... back by popular demand!            Sa: 4/15  10-11 am       $10/$12
             We will explore the beauty of vegetable gardening. Our discussion will focus on design
             with fruits and vegetables; learn to integrate them into your front yard, planters or around
             a patio. Register by 4/8.
             Houseplants 101…New Class!!                                        Sa: 4/15  11:15 am-12:15 pm  $10/$12
             Are your houseplants threatening to push through the ceiling…do you have clouds of
             whitefly irritating your pets? This class will discuss care, maintenance and propagation of
             houseplants.  We’ll cover the classics as well as the unique, from begonia and brugmansia
             to cacti and amaryllis. Register by 4/8.
             The Jurassic Garden…New Class!!                                    Sa: 4/15  1:15-2:15 pm   $10/$12
             Walk through the geologic past and explore the wild world of plants, considered to be
             living fossils. We don’t have a dinosaur but geology, botany and history intersect with
             plants and fossils, on exhibit.
             Register by 4/8.
             Designing for Spring Interest…and extending the season…New Class!!  Sa: 4/15  2:30-3:30 pm  $10/$12
             We will explore all things spring, from flowering trees to bulbs and wildflowers. Our   3:30-4:15 pm
             in-depth look will cover planting design, the plant palette and ways to extend the season.   (with optional tour)
             If the weather permits, join an exuberant gardener for an optional 45 minute tour of the
             garden and spring interest. Register by 4/8.
             Garden Makeover…New Class!!                                        Sa: 4/22  10-11 am       $10/$12
             On HGTV it seems like magic…within a half hour, you have a garden worthy of a magazine
             photo-shoot. It’s not magic and it takes a bit longer than a half hour, but you can breathe
             life into established gardens with design, focused planting, furnishings and accessories.
             Register by 4/15.
             Welcoming Pollinators into your Garden…New Class!!                 Sa: 4/22  11:15 am-12:15 pm  $10/$12
             Explore the world of pollinators...their lifecycle…what they do for us…and how we can
             help them out.  The class will cover concepts that you can incorporate into your own
             garden, with pollinator-friendly design, a plant palette and working with nature.
             Register by 4/15.
             Designing with Tremendous, Tantalizing Trees                       Sa: 4/22  1:15-2:15 pm   $10/$12
             We will discuss the trees that perform best here in Central Illinois. Because trees have   2:15-3:00 pm
             such an amazing impact on our lives, we will also cover some of the culture and history   (with optional tour)
             associated with trees. If the weather permits, we will take an optional 45 minute tour of
             Glen Oak Park and Luthy Botanical Garden, exploring trees and park history.
