WHY DO CATS FIND THEMSELVES IN POUNDS?
Jerry has been re adopted by a
family who will appreciate him...
Out West, beyond the leafy suburbs, beyond the tree lined streets and houses,
there is a Pound. And this is the tail of one cat.
His name is Jerry. Jerry was left at the Pound by his Mother (I mean human mother). Do you want to know why?
This lady had decided that morning that her baby was more important than Jerry and his Sister. Two cats she
had had for a while. Two cats who had come to love her and rely on her.
So, baby in tow, this Lady bagged Jerry and Sister and hauled them off to the Pound in her car. Once arrived, in the
cold afternoon light she approached the front desk and said, “Yup don’ wan these cats any more, I have a baby now
…” and smiled and gestured to the baby. And so it came to pass that on a cold afternoon, one of the Pounders took
Jerry and his Sister down to the cattery. A blanket in the bottom of a box, and into a cinder and steel cage they were
deposited. That night they huddled in the cold together without knowing why they came to be in the Pound.
At the same time, on that cold afternoon, this lady having arrived home took her sleeping baby, paused on entering
her warm home to crank up the heater, and moved to the baby’s room. The expensive crib was in the corner. This
lady lay her baby down and got another blanket to ensure baby was warm.
I would give away all my possessions before I gave up an
animal that I had promised to care for …
