The Drivers continued
With all of the rebuild having taken place in the family
workshop this is very much a family affair!
A farm girl
Lynda admits that, whilst the Classic Safari Rally is
longer, in terms of days of competition, that time
behind the wheel per day is less than when she last
did the rally in 1992! Her total rally time in 1992 was
10 hours and 40 minutes. Kris Rosenberger did the
Classic in 2019 (5 days longer) in 13 hours and 2
minutes! And as a farmer, Lynda spends most of her
days driving over exactly the terrain she'll be rallying
on. All of this excites her! The target is simple – to
have fun and lots of laughs. And to see the finish in
Watamu.
Lynda, Tony – it has been far too long and we all wish
you the very best!
Page Morris brothers
Des Page-Morris Geoff Page-Morris
Dez Page-Morris is a well known co-driving name in
Kenyan motor sport, having campaigned the Kenyan
(and African) Rally Championships for a number of the
top competitors – drivers like Ian Duncan, Onkar Rai
and Peter Horsey all rate Dez highly.
And it’s not unusual for a beginner driver to lean on a
more experienced co-driver for guidance when they
start competing. But it is a bit different when the
“novice” driver is your elder brother!
The target - to finish!
Geoff Page-Morris used to love watching the Safari
Rally, back in the “day”, and used to dream of
competing. Then, in 2019, Geoff teamed up with
brother Dez, fresh from an overall podium the year
before, to do the Top Fry Classic. Although it was
challenging for UK based Geoff to adapt to listening to
20
his younger brother and understanding the art of
th
reading a rally road, the pair came home 15 overall.
They are now preparing to tackle the big one – the
nine days that are on everyone’s bucket list!
Amazingly, given his co-driving career and experience,
this will also be Dez' debut on the East African Safari
Classic and the moment will not be lost on either
brother! The pair are treating this as an adventure and
have just the one target… to finish!
The pair are competing in a Datsun PA10, reminiscent
of the one used by everyone’s hero, Shekhar Mehta
and will be supporting the TUSK wildlife charity. We
wish them all the best of luck!

Back in 2007 a team of
youthful rally wannabees
set out from White
Sands Hotel to embark
on the 9 day East African
Safari Classic Rally.
Whilst they didn't quite
make the end of Day 1,
after the engine broke
on their Triumph TR6,
they did make history as, to date, the youngest crew to
start this epic rally.
The driver of that crew, Quentin Mitchell, has made
quite the name for himself in Kenyan rallying, racking
up 7 podium finishes in the Kenyan National
Championship and creating a reputation of being
consistently quick. Whilst the elusive first win is still to
come Quentin has taken the last four years out of the
sport to reset and refocus. Quentin is using the 2022
East African Safari Classic Rally as a relaunch of his
motor sport activities.
A bit rusty!
Having worked as team manager and then as an
official mud crew on the last few Classic Safaris,
Quentin knows this event intimately and is confident
that he can put in a good showing. Whilst admitting
that his team does not have the budget to play with
the big boys, he is confident that, given a reliable car,
he can challenge for a top ten finish and class honours,
