Ring Nebula M57 Intensity Profile [O III] λ 5007

Longitudinal section through
M57. The 50μm slit of DADOS is
approximately aligned with the
longitudinal axis of the nebula.
With Vspec the Intensity profiles
of the strongest emissions [O III]
and [N II] are generated along
the entire length of the slit. The
scales of the two profiles are
normalized on the peak value of
[O III] =1, proportional to their
line intensity in the spectrum.
[N II] chiefly generates the
reddish yellow edge part of the
nebula, [O III] mainly produces
the turquoise-blue color in the
center of the Nebula (Photo:
