                   SciTech IDEAS IN ACTION

orsyth Tech’s innovative SciTech Ideas in Action lecture series, admin-
istered by the National Center for the Biotechnology Workforce (NCBW),
Fopens people’s eyes to advances in science and technology and their work-
                                    force applications.
Each lecture is a story told from the inside by passionate people who are direct-
ly involved in the projects and businesses. Our SciTech team hosts these accom-
plished scientific and technical experts who share their passions and projects in
stimulating presentations, always free and open to the public.
The well-known SciTech lecture series, now in its tenth year, has presented
more than 60 speakers reaching 3,500-plus audience members, including busi-
ness leaders, as well as faculty, staff, students and community. The lectures, held
once a month during fall and spring terms (to maximize student attendance and
Russ Read participants from other colleges and the community), reveal how many high-
            NCBW Exec. Director
ly-talented people in our region are creating science achievements.
We want to give each person who attends a new set of facts, an expanded knowledge of cutting-edge
scientific research, and an experience of the latest discoveries in advanced technology. SciTech has
become a known brand in the community. Imagine the multiplier effect if every community college
across the country were to hold its own science lecture series.
mployers across many biotechnology industries agree: learning and development opportuni-
Eties are important for their employees. They understand how important career growth opportuni-
ties are to their people - and that those people are the most important asset in their organization.
In its work to strengthen and expand our nation’s biotechnology workforce, the NCBW emphasizes
capacity building, best practices, and skill standards – these bring quality, efficiency and added value.
Instilling a love of learning also brings higher value. Improving skills and abilities to think, imagine,
analyze and understand, along with being able to
manage and execute tasks or procedures, enable
people to do their work even better – and advance
               themselves.
The SciTech Lecture Series is an important step
in the ForsythTech program that provides knowl-
edge and skills people can take with them and use
               throughout their careers.
Among the inspirational and fascinating lecture
topics you can find documented and linked in this
