that it was my birthday, and that I had a bottle of champagne in the fridge.
So we raised glasses in the November sunshine, all very amused by the
afternoon’s blast. Ben led us back out through the surf in the morning,
settling by then, and we made it home to the Camel in time for just enough
light and water to find our way across the Doom Bar.
December
With Osira out of the water, time to work through those maintenance
checklists again. Despite the year’s confusion and frustrations, a fascinating
season nonetheless, when I learned to appreciate and savour the nearby,
and not measure satisfaction by distance. It’s also time to start dreaming of
spring again and honing those round Ireland passage plans: I’m determined
to get my money’s worth from all those Irish pilot books and charts in
2021!
