Trunk Dialling Guide

The Olive Tree Hotel, Penang is pleased to introduce the trunk dialling guide and the
international direct dialling (IDD) directory for your convenience; providing you the dialling
codes for major countries and cities around the world.
This system enables you to make overseas calls direct from your room without going through
the hotel operator or the international exchange operator. Before you make your call through
the IDD, we would like to acquaint you with the procedures.

Charges
Charges are levied as per local telecommunication provider charges plus Hotel surcharge
from the moment the call is answered. Calls are automatically charged to your account. The
bill will show the number dialled and will be handed to you upon check-out.
Person to person overseas calls can only be made through the operator. Operator-assisted
calls are chargeable at a normal fee.

When Using IDD (International Direct Dialling)
• Press carefully and do not pause for more than 7 seconds between digits.
• After dialling you may have to wait up to 30 seconds before you can hear the tone.
• The tone you will hear may be different from those of your country.
• Call charging begins the moment the called party answers.
• Always place the handset properly upon completing your call.
Should you encounter difficulties while making your call, please hang up immediately and
retry. If you continue to have difficulty, press ‘0’ for assistance from the hotel operator.

How to Make an IDD Call
Access Code (9) + IDD Access (00) + Country Code + Area Code + Telephone Number of
called party.
Example: to call 6484121 in Geneva, Switzerland,
You must dial: 9 00 41 21 6484121
If you are unable to find in this guide the city or town you wish to call by IDD, press ‘0’ for
assistance from the hotel operator.

How to Make a Trunk Call
Access code (9) + Area code + Telephone number or called party.
Example: to call 5559692 in Kuala Lumpur, you must dial 9 03 5559692

Home Country Direct (Toll Free)
You can make a call to your country telephonist by calling the appropriate Toll Free Access
Number. There will be a nominal access fee per call. For more details, please contact the
hotel telephone operator at extension ‘0’.
