Geoffrey Jayson was born in Essex in 1946, the youngest of 2 boys, and grew up
mostly in Hendon in North London From his early years he was involved in Jewish
Youth movements, one of which, the Gideon Committee , that supported children
under care in Norwood.
Excelling academically, Geoffrey spent his summer holidays working in his father’s
accountancy firm to gain work experience and never left it, continuing to help grow
the business into a large firm that was eventually sold to Numerica Group. After a
few years Geoffrey and his brother Bernard formed an independent consulting firm,
working with a small number of clients with large portfolios. He continues to work
there to this day.
Geoffrey met Janice at the Gideon Committee and they married in 1974 and had
two daughters, Juliet and Hannah. Today he is a proud grandfather to an 18 year old
grandson and a 16 year old granddaughter. He is very much a family man. Janice
passed away after a 32 year old happy marriage and in 2009 Geoffrey married Judith
whom he had met at the Gideon Committee many years before.
Geoffrey ‘s charity portfolio encompasses a variety of causes. He is trustee of 5
charities and supports many more. Geoffrey met Dr. David Portowicz when they
both became involved in supporting an Israeli family who came to London to get
ground-breaking cancer treatment for their young daughter. The family stayed with
Geoffrey and Janice. After 30 years, Geoffrey is still in touch with the family.
David and Geoffrey became good friends over the years that they supported this
worthy cause . Later David introduced him to the Jaffa Institute and ,on learning
about the wonderful work it does, he became an enthusiastic supporter.
Geoffrey is always open to listening to, and helping others. In every sense of the
word he is a true mentsch!
