IK VALUE
Compared to the previous values and key figures, the IK
value does not describe the quality of light itself, but indica-
tes how shock- and impact-resistant a luminaire or certain
components are. IK00 offers no protection against external
mechanical stress, IK 10 or IK10+ means that the luminaire
can withstand a 5 or 10 kg test weight from 40 or 50 cm.
In addition to the IP protection class, the IK value of a lumi-
naire is increasingly required in tenders and for installation
in public spaces.
