Edwin Booth's (1875—8 8) were the most outstanding of
the productions; McCullough figured in five revivals
from 1877 to 1882. In the present century R. B.
Mantell has been the chief Lear (from 1905 onwards).
In California Mr Gilmor Brown staged King Lear at the
Pasadena Playhouse in 1922 and 1944.
