Search
This Settings pane is new in the May 2019 Update, but most of its contents
aren’t. It’s just that they’re no longer clustered (illogically) under the
Cortana settings, just as the search box is no longer combined with the
Cortana button on the taskbar.
Permissions & History
Anyway, here’s what you’ve got on the first tab:
SafeSearch. As you know from Chapter 3, using the search box
often includes results from the web, not just your computer. As you
also know, the Search feature even displays a snippet of the actual
web pages that contain what you’re looking for.
But what if you’re looking for something raunchy? You might not
want some naked person’s photo appearing in its full JPEG
splendor just as somebody important is walking by your PC.
For that reason, Windows 10 comes with SafeSearch set to
Moderate here, meaning that you’ll see off-color text results in the
search results menu, but not photos or videos. If you set it to Strict,
you’ll see neither.
If you live and work by yourself, by all means set SafeSearch to
Off.
Cloud content search. When you do a search, do you want
Windows to scrounge through your OneDrive’s contents (Figure 3-
15), too? How about your Outlook account? Here you can answer
