Situated on the Pacific Coast, California is 800 Yreka
miles (1,300 km) long and 250 miles (400 km) Crescent Alturas
City
wide, covering an area of 158,710 sq miles
(411,060 sq km). An area of startling contrasts,
the scorching deserts and snowcapped
mountains of the south lead to the vast Eureka
wilderness areas of the north. Los Angeles Scotia Redding
and San Francisco are the state’s two major Susanville
cities, and the state capital is Sacramento.
